THINGS TO DO DURING YOUR VISIT<\/h3>\n

The island of Ciovo is a very popular tourist destination with international and national holiday makers as its close proximity to Split airport makes it somewhere easy to visit without the worry of waiting for ferrys crossings.<\/p>\n

Ciovo has an abundance of stunning beaches, with breathtaking views along coastal paths taking you to hidden coves and ancient buildings. There is plenty to do without even leaving the island as a quick stroll over the bridge takes you into the UNESCO heritage site of Trogir<\/a>. This is a medieval city surrounded with water and is reminiscent of a \u201cMini Venice\u201d with its narrow marble walkways with Venetian inspired architecture; opening into grand squares with medieval churches, cafes, bars and shops. Its a magical place for all ages and is one of the most visited locations after Dubrovnik.<\/p>\n

OTHER PLACES TO STAY DURING YOUR VISIT<\/h4>\n

Split Old Town<\/a> \u2013 is a 30 km drive from the house but it is a quick journey along the motorway or for a more leisurely drive through the Kastela\u2019s which are a series of villages all connected, driving from the airport away from Trogir towards Split. Each village has a castle on their seafront and there are a total of seven, 15th century castles to be explored. This road is the old Split road but is worth taking to see these connecting local villages.<\/p>\n

On arrival in Split head for the old town with its large marble streets and medieval architecture but most importantly an UNESCO Heritage site of the Diocletian\u2019s Roman Palace<\/a> which can be found on the seafront set back from the array of beach front bars and restaurants.<\/p>\n

Sibenik<\/a> is located the opposite way from Split and away from Trogir and the journey which takes about an hour, is a magnificent coastal road taking you past stunning bays, villages and breathtaking vistas. Again another extraordinary UNESCO protected medieval town awaits you along with two fortresses both well worth a visit.<\/p>\n

Island hoping off Split or Trogir and taking a boat, ferry or fast Catamaran over to explore the stunning islands of Hvar<\/a>, Brac, Solta Korcula or Vis. Many people say they have never seen anything so beautiful anywhere else in the world as the beaches are classed as the best in Europe. BOL or Zlatni Rat is a Golden sandbar sticking out into the sea with its white golden sandy beaches on the island of Brac<\/a> and is the most photographed beach in Europe.<\/p>\n

A short trip takes you to the trendy island of Hvar<\/a> with its upmarket bar restaurants and clubs. Many music festivals are held on Hvar and it has become Croatians hotspot for party life. Off season Hvar becomes a quiet picturesque village where Croatian island life returns to a gentle pace.<\/p>\n

For a more relaxed and nature inspired experience a trip to Vis<\/a> is well worth taking to discover the BLUE CAVE<\/a> which is a waterlogged sea cave which glows an electric blue and is considered a unique natural phenomenon.<\/p>\n

Vranjaca Cave<\/a> just outside split (Dugopolje) is a 300 metre cave formed 60,000,000 years ago and like other caves in Croatian have been incredible archaeological sites for Neanderthal bones the most famous in Vindija near Zagreb. Studies are found in the Krapina Neanderthal Museum<\/a> in the same region which is a nearly 4 hour drive from VILLA JANKA.<\/p>\n

Finally PLITVICE Lakes National Park<\/a> is an UNESCO world heritage location and is the largest national park in Croatia. It is famous for its chain of 16 terraced lakes, joined by waterfalls that extend into a limestone canyon. The largest waterfall having a 78 metre drop. The forests in the parks are home to many rare bird species. Locals have said that the park in winter is like a scene from Narnia with frozen lakes, snow dusted Christmas trees and vegetation. Locals and tourists equally enjoy dipping or swimming in the lakes with their crystal clear water, a truly magical destination to be enjoyed all year round!<\/p>\n
